Where To Find Real Estate Classes

Monday, September 7th, 2009

In every state, real estate agents must be licensed. Before taking any real estate classes, you need to have a high school diploma. It’s hard to convey the importance of this but nowadays, many real estate agencies are even turning to college graduates primarily. There are more opportunities now to obtain education for realtors because they are beginning to offer a variety of college real estate classes.

Thousands of universities offer classes in real estate. Many even offer a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree in the field. If you’re planning to take the real estate exam then you should take many classes in real estate, financing, marketing, statistics, law, and economy. Large and small firms alike are also beginning to offer training for both novice and expert realtors.

Real Estate License

It is illegal to practice real estate without a license. There is a written exam that every prospective realtor has to take and it covers basic real estate transactions and laws. In order to take the test, most states require that you have 30 to 90 hours of formal real estate classes under your belt. To be a real estate broker, most states require 60 to 90 hours of classroom instruction and a certain amount of experience in selling.

Generally, state licenses have to be renewed every 1-2 years. In most states, no exam is required for renewal. More recently, however, states are requiring agents to take part in continuing education courses. To find the exact requirements for licensure in your state, contact the real estate licensing commission.

Importance of Real Estate Classes

Your career in real estate begins with education. Not only is this required in order to take the exam at all but you will never be able to pass it if you don’t have the knowledge that real estate classes will give you. There are many types of classes available including international real estate, real estate appraisal, commercial real estate, residential real estate, finance, investments, law, principles, and practices. All of these courses can be beneficial for your career but it is important that you take the ones that are absolutely necessary first. For instance, if you only want to sell homes then it is not necessary to take commercial real estate classes.

Where to Find Quality Courses

Several colleges offer classes in real estate and/or training for the licensure exam. Check with potential schools and see what they have to offer. With today’s technology, you can even find real estate training online that fill licensing requirements. There is a huge number of continuing real estate education courses online as well.

First of all, we must start with listing all the ideas that come to mind for possible niches for your new business. Start with what you know. Look at your own areas of interest and expertise for clues for possible niches. If you can work in a niche that you already know, you will be way ahead since you won’t have to deal with a learning curve for your topic. Other places for ideas are ebay Pulse, Google Trends, and book sellers like Amazon and Barnes and Noble. These sites will give you insight as to what is hot and what is selling right now.

Research Time;
Now that you have some ideas it’s time to get down to the business of research. First you should look at your list and pick your top five niches for more research. One of the first things that you need to find out is if there is enough interest in your topic to support your business. This is also when you will need to start thinking about your business model. This is also a good time to make a note of the other suggested keywords that seobook gave you. If there looks like decent search volume for this topic then we can now dig deeper into the niche. At this point I like to go back to Amazon and see if there are any books being sold on the topic. If there are physical books being written and sold on a niche topic, that’s a good indication that there is good demand and that the niche can be profitable. A side note here…don’t let the fear of competition scare you away from an obviously profitable niche, Especially if you have some background or expertise in that niche. Competition means that there is probably money being spent in this niche and that is what you want. Look at the competition and see what they are selling and how they are doing their marketing.
